IT Support Apprentice at Solveway Ltd in Southampton
About the role
This is a Level 3 ICT Apprenticeship role - split 80/20 between working and earning with the employer gaining valuable hands on skills, and learning & gaining qualifications with Solveway Apprenticeships!
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line technical support to staff and pupils, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and network issues
- Support the setup of AV/IT equipment in classrooms, offices and meeting rooms
- Assist with installing, configuring and maintaining devices, systems and applications
- Help manage user accounts and system access
- Carry out routine monitoring, maintenance and updates of ICT systems
- Keep accurate records of support requests, technical activity and completed work
- Support the deployment of new hardware, software and digital services
- Assist with device management and technology equipment inventories across the school
- Provide administrative support on ICT projects and technology improvement initiatives
- Follow procedures for incident logging, escalation and resolution

Qualifications
- GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade 4/C or above (essential)
- Basic IT knowledge and confidence using digital tools (essential)
- Interest or previous experience in IT support, systems administration or networking (desirable)
- Experience using digital technologies in an educational or workplace setting (desirable)
- Enhanced DBS check required — this role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and satisfactory references, as the school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Hours: 37 hours a week
Salary: £15434.33 for the first 12 months, raising to the national minimum wage afterwards

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Following successful completion of the Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship, the apprentice will have developed practical ICT support skills, technical knowledge and professional workplace behaviours to support progression within the organisation.
Subject to performance and business need, opportunities may exist to:
- Progress onto a higher-level apprenticeship, including an IT Level 4 programme.
- Move into more senior ICT support positions.
- Develop a long-term career within IT, digital infrastructure or technical services.
