We’re now looking for a Building Facilities Assistant to join our friendly, supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity in a role where your contribution is genuinely valued.

 

We will train you to be part of our dynamic and reactive customer facing building facilities team who will travel within an agreed catchment area of Dumfries to provide essential cleaning and janitorial tasks in our schools

 

About the role

 

You’ll be part a dynamic, customer facing facilities team, providing essential janitorial and cleaning support to help keep the school safe, clean and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors.

 

Your duties will include:

  • *Carrying out general cleaning and janitorial tasks to a high standard
  • *Supporting daily building safety checks and health & safety procedures
  • *Assisting the Lead Occupier with safe operation of the premises
  • *Supporting energy efficiency and responsible building usage
  • *Liaising professionally with all staff and service users
  •  

You’ll work both independently and as part of a small team, using a proactive, organised, and methodical approach.

 

Working Hours

  • 30 hours per week, working 5 over 7 days per week (as directed by line manager)
  • 52.14 weeks per year

This post is fixed term for up to 18 months.

  • RequirementsWhat we’re looking for
  • *A reliable, motivated individual with good attention to detail
  • *Someone approachable, professional, and customer focused
  • *Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • *Good communication skills are essential
  • *A current driving license is required (reasonable adjustments will be considered)

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
