About the role

Description

  • 35 hours per week (shift-based including earlies, lates, night turns, weekends, and bank holidays). Earliest start time 06:10, latest finish time 23:00.
  • You must be able to arrange your own transport to ensure timely arrival for early and late shifts.
  • Applicants must be over 18 years of age
  • Employment is subject to satisfactory Right to Work checks, a DBS check, and a safety‑critical medical assessment.
  • £31,996 per annum plus allowances

In this role, you will provide outstanding customer service across all areas of the station, ensuring that passengers have a seamless and safe travel experience. Full training and uniform provided.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting customers at the gateline and ensuring the safe, tidy and efficient operation of the gates

  • Helping to prevent ticketless travel and fraudulent activity
  • Reporting any faults and issues promptly
  • Assisting passengers with tickets, including checking them, general advice and making sure the gates operate
  • Providing the highest possible standard of advice, information and service to our customers
  • Delivering a safe, attractive retail station environment, with general cleaning, de-icing
  • Participating in the safe running of trains and a safe station environment by complying with procedures
  • Promoting all relevant marketing materials and useful information
  • Work to fully meet the requirements of passengers, including during times of disruption, when there are service issues or emergencies
  • Provide passenger assistance to our passengers, meeting and greeting and dealing with onward travel arrangement to ensure everyone has the support required to meet their individual needs as a passenger
  • Able to safely operate customer access ramps and assist passengers with their luggage.
  • Providing support to mobility/ visually impaired customers, who may need to hold your arm or lean on you for guidance.

  • Have a friendly, approachable demeanour with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Are calm under pressure, able to think on their feet, and able to handle various situations
  • Possess a “can-do” attitude and enjoy working as part of a team
  • Take pride in providing top-notch customer service and passionate in ensuring customer safety
  • Have team spirit and bring your unique self to strengthen our team and foster a positive work environment
  • Knowledge of ticket types would be beneficial.
