If so, come and join us as an Operational Management Information Developer within the Working Age Services Directorate in the Digital Transformation Group.
The Working Age Data and Performance Team sits at the heart of DWP's Digital Transformation Group, providing the analysis, performance insight and resource planning that help drive continuous improvement across Working Age services.
Working with Operations, Digital teams and senior stakeholders, including Directors and Ministers, you will use data and insight to understand performance, identify opportunities for improvement and support evidence based decision making. You'll contribute to the development of performance measures and process indicators, test hypotheses, evaluate outcomes and help shape data driven initiatives that improve services for our customers.

Job description
- Produce insightful management information, analysis and visualisations using Power BI or similar tools to support operational and strategic decision making.
- Develop robust analytical products using SQL or similar programming languages, ensuring outputs are accurate, reproducible and quality assured.
- Combine and interrogate data from multiple sources to generate meaningful insights, identify trends and inform business improvements.
- Lead analytical and performance improvement projects, delivering outcomes at pace and managing competing priorities effectively.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and operational performance across Universal Credit and Labour Market services.
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, to influence decisions and deliver complex outcomes.
- Present complex data and technical findings in a clear and engaging way for non-technical audiences.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative working environment while contributing to team objectives, efficiencies and continuous improvement.

Hybrid Working
This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.
If a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for the role and for you, you will normally be required to spend a minimum of 60% of your contracted working hours from your DWP office.

Salary Information
Pay for this role in National location is from £38,772 to £39,621.
Pay for this role in inner London is from £44,355 to £45,065.
Pay for this role in outer London is from £42,509 to £45,065.
New entrants to the Civil Service will join on band minimum.
Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer will maintain their current substantive salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion will move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or receive a 10% increase applied to their current substantive salary, whichever is greater.
Any temporary allowances that you are currently in receipt of will not form part of the calculation to determine your pay. Any allowances that are in payment will cease when you move into your new role.

Selection process details

Stage 1: Application
Your application will consist of five parts:

Following successful completion of the test, you will then be asked to complete:
3. Employment history - this should contain your work experience and any skills, qualifications and accomplishments relevant to the jobs you have completed.
4. Personal statement - up to 1000 words. This statement should be used to provide examples of how you meet the essential criteria below:
- Strong numerical and analytical ability that is sufficient to quickly assimilate, manipulate, examine and analyse large volumes of complex operational data.
- Strong and effective leadership experience, demonstrating integrity and the ability to collaborate with others. Able to communicate with clarity, conviction and enthusiasm with colleagues and stakeholders at various levels, using data to influence, advise, contribute and challenge where necessary to drive positive outcomes.
- Ability to lead change and service improvement in large, complex environments, using a proactive and inquisitive approach to problem solving. Experience of taking ownership of projects from concept through to delivery and continuous improvement, while engaging and influencing others to support organisational objectives.
- Strong decision-making abilities; ability to interpret large volumes of complex data sets; an eye for detail showing confidence when putting forward own views and using sound judgment to provide recommendations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to influence and explain complex points clearly; resilient in the face of challenge. Confident to present findings and recommendations to senior managers.
5. Technical statement (up to 250 words). The following statement is aligned to the required technical skill of Technical Breadth. This statement should be used to provide example(s) of how you meet the criterion below:
- Working experience of SQL, or another data manipulation language, to produce accurate, reproducible analytical outputs, including use of version control such as Git. Experience using Power BI, or a similar visualisation tool, to report data and present clear recommendations to stakeholders
