We are now looking for a Property Management Accountant South to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract . This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working in a commercially focused environment, building strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring accurate financial management across a diverse property portfolio.
About the Role
As a Property Management Accountant, you will take ownership of the end-to-end property accounting processes, ensuring property income and expenditure are accurately recorded, monitored and reported. You'll work closely with Estates Delivery teams and budget holders across the South region, providing financial insight and support to drive accountability, improve performance and optimise value from our estate. The successful candidate will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, customer billing and annual reconciliation activities, ensuring all processes are delivered accurately and within agreed timescales. You will also support continuous improvement initiatives across the Finance function, helping to strengthen financial controls and enhance customer service.
Who You Are
You are a proactive and commercially minded finance professional with strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail. You enjoy working collaboratively with operational stakeholders and can confidently explain financial information to both finance and non-finance audiences. You'll be comfortable managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines and identifying opportunities to improve processes and performance. Most importantly, you'll bring a customer-focused approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality financial support.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage all accounting processes and activities relating to a designated portfolio of properties.
- Provide financial support and guidance to Estates Delivery Senior Managers and budget holders.
- Champion continuous improvement and best practice across financial processes.
- Ensure property costs and income are accurately recorded and reported.
Reporting & Planning
- Lead monthly reviews of property-level income and expenditure, including risks and opportunities.
- Drive financial accountability with Senior Estates Managers and budget holders.
- Support the production of monthly regional management accounts.
- Deliver KPI reporting, variance analysis, and commentary on profit and loss and balance sheet performance.
- Support annual budgeting activities and quarterly forecasting processes.
Customer Financial Delivery & Engagement
- Manage property budgets and provide commercial insight to maximise value and performance.
- Support the production of customer income and expenditure reviews.
- Produce Annual Charging Schedules and Annual Reconciliation reports within corporate deadlines.
- Support customer balance agreement processes and resolution of billing queries.
- Investigate and explain material variances between customer billings and Annual Budget Schedules.
Financial Control
- Ensure cost recovery processes are applied in line with company policies.
- Support consistent application of financial policies, controls and procedures.
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements as needed.
Where you’ll be
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, offering a hybrid working arrangement covering the south region. The salary for this position starts from £36,000 per annum.
