Axcis Education is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist SEND college in Bromley. This is an excellent opportunity to support post-16 students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, physical disabilities, complex learning difficulties, communication needs, and SEMH.
Working as part of a supportive team, you will help students build confidence, independence, life skills, and employability skills, preparing them for adulthood and future opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND
- Support learners during classroom lessons, vocational programmes, and practical activities
- Assist with subjects including art, drama, cooking, life skills, employability, and community-based learning
- Encourage student engagement, participation, and independence
- Support communication, social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
- Help students achieve individual learning and EHCP targets
- Provide personal care where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver high-quality support
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable adults with SEND
- Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Youth Worker, or similar role
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism (ASD), ADHD, physical disabilities, communication needs, SEMH, or complex needs is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Confidence supporting personal care and independence skills
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
