Service Objectives

The Nuneaton and North Warwickshire Children and Family Centre's support young children and their families to thrive, achieve, develop, and build resilience to cope with life.

Role and duties specific to this post

The role of the Volunteer Coordinator is to support the service through the identification, recruitment, training, monitoring, and supervision of volunteers. Volunteers contribute to the running of our service in a variety of roles, including:

  • Group helpers – supporting our Practitioners to provide a range of groups/ activities for families and children 0-19years (or up to 25years for young people with SEND).
  • Other volunteers to support administrative functions for the service such as reception, admin, gardeners etc.

The role also involves work to support the promotion of volunteering opportunities and wider service aims, including:

  • Promoting and coordinating short-term work experience opportunities for young people.
  • Delivering presentations and workshops in schools and other venues to promote a greater understanding of the service, and its volunteering opportunities.
  • Coordinate community activities/ events supported by volunteers to support community engagement, promote the service, and volunteering opportunities.

Most of the work will be across the Nuneaton and North Warwickshire localities, but this is a countywide role, requiring the postholder to be flexible where needed to meet service needs. It therefore may include working across the county with other Children and Family Centre Volunteer Coordinators.

For these reasons, access to your own transport would be strongly desirable. An office base will be available at one of our Children and Family Centre's (at either Riversley Park, Camphill, Stockingford, or Atherstone), but some home working may also be required.

This is a permanent part-time job-share post for 18 hours per week. The regular work pattern will be set hours between 8.30am - 5pm Monday to Friday, however, the post also requires the flexibility to occasionally work outside these times at weekends or in evenings.

We are looking to appoint a person with:

  • Knowledge and understanding of good practice when working with volunteers.
  • Experience of successfully recruiting, supervising, monitoring and supporting others in a paid or unpaid situation, or experience of coordinating a group of people to achieve a complex desired outcome.
  • Good working knowledge/ experience of using common IT software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc). Experience of using virtual platforms to facilitate virtual meetings/training is also desirable.
  • Experience of delivering training to individuals or groups and delivering talks or presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of working with children, young people, parents/ carers.

If you'd like a busy and varied role where you will be required to work autonomously and as part of a team, then this could be the role for you.

You will need a friendly and welcoming disposition, and be confident, with good communication skills. Together, you'll work as part of a committed, professional, and friendly team to support improved outcomes for children and families.
