Community Project Officer - 2 year FTC

Help shape community-led projects that build lasting, positive change in North Kensington.

As a Community Project Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting our residents and working alongside local community organisations to deliver meaningful, long-term recovery by championing grassroots initiatives and projects helping residents turn their priorities and ideas into lasting, positive change.

Working Style

You'll be based in the Borough for 4 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're meeting community partners or working with resident panels, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.

What you'll be doing

Your work will focus on coordinating and delivering key programmes including the Grenfell Projects Fund and the Community Leadership Programme in North Kensington Day-to-day, you'll meet with local community groups to review progress, monitoring their delivery and help them overcome delivery challenges and manage budgets and grant outcomes and outputs to ensure projects remain compliant and on track. You'll also gather and analyse both qualitative and quantitative performance data, using case studies and feedback to demonstrate the real-world impact of community initiatives, using software such as Monday.com, Plinth and Microsoft applications.

Working closely with resident panels, , Council teams and external partners, you'll prepare clear reports, briefings and presentations for a range of audiences. This will include attending out-of-hours community meetings to listen directly to residents and help shape new initiatives. You'll manage project plans, finance systems and risk logs across multiple programmes simultaneously, balancing community expectations with available resources in a sensitive environment with care and competence.

What you'll bring

You'll bring experience managing community, regeneration, public sector or voluntary sector programmes, with a proven track record in project management, grant administration and co-designing projects alongside local communities. You'll have strong skills in gathering and evaluating data to evidence impact, alongside confidence using digital tools for project tracking and reporting.

You'll bring exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write clear briefings and build trust across diverse audiences. Working in a sensitive environment requires high emotional intelligence, political awareness, discretion and resilience under pressure. You'll be highly organised, solution-oriented and adept at supporting smaller organisations with governance and finance while balancing competing priorities fairly and respectfully.

Most importantly, you're someone who approaches sensitive challenges with empathy, patience and practical solutions-deeply committed to supporting grassroots delivery and building genuine relationships across the community.
