About the role
Graduate Primary Learning Support Assistant
KT16, Surrey | £510-£570 per week
Are you a graduate who enjoys working with children and wants to start a career in education?
We are looking for a Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly primary school in KT16, Surrey , supporting pupils across the school and helping them get the most out of their day.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is positive, adaptable and naturally good with children . You'll work with pupils with different personalities, abilities and needs, so being able to change your approach and build a connection with each child is really important.
The role
You'll work alongside teachers to support pupils throughout the school day. This could include classroom support, 1:1 assistance, small-group activities and helping pupils who require additional support.
You will:
- Support pupils with their learning and classroom activities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required
- Encourage pupils to become more confident and independent
- Build positive relationships with children
- Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
- Adapt your approach to suit different pupils
- Work closely with teachers and the wider school team
- Help maintain a positive, engaging classroom environment
What we're looking for
Essential requirements:
- A 2:1 degree or above
- Degree in a relevant subject such as Education, Psychology, Sociology, Childhood Studies, English, Maths, Sports or another related subject
- A Levels completed within the UK
- GCSEs completed within the UK
- Strong communication skills
- A genuine interest in working with children
- An upbeat, approachable and positive personality
- The ability to adapt to different pupils and situations
- A reliable and professional approach
Experience
Previous experience working with children would be beneficial, particularly within:
- SEN
- Primary education
- Social care
- Childcare
- Youth work
- Tutoring or mentoring
- Behaviour support
You don't necessarily need previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant. We're interested in graduates who have the right attitude, personality and ability to connect with children , as well as the academic background required for the role.
