GLD is a non-ministerial government department headed by the Treasury Solicitor, our Permanent Secretary, and employs nearly 4000 people, including nearly 3000 legal professionals. About the Digital, Data & Cyber Team

The Digital, Data and Cyber Team is transforming the way GLD works through modern technology, data and digital services.

As part of the wider Government Digital and Data profession , we play a key role in transforming how government operates, enabling better outcomes for colleagues, stakeholders and the public we serve.

The Role

This is an exciting and continually evolving role that offers a wide range of learning and development opportunities. You'll join a friendly and supportive team within the Digital, Data and Cyber Directorate, helping colleagues across the Government Legal Department make the most of digital tools, systems and technologies.

As a Digital Trainer, you will play an important role in developing and delivering engaging learning solutions, working closely with colleagues across the business to continuously improve training and learning resources that build digital confidence and capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging training sessions to colleagues across GLD, both virtually and in person.
  • Support the adoption of new systems, technologies and digital initiatives by providing effective training and change support. For example, supporting the rollout and adoption of GLD's new Case Management System.
  • Work closely with the Digital Training Operations Manager to ensure the training curriculum remains accurate, relevant and fit for purpose.
  • Support the administration of the training function, including responding to training requests, scheduling events, updating the intranet, managing course bookings and maintaining attendance records.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of digital technologies, particularly Microsoft 365, and proactively support colleagues through system updates, enhancements and new ways of working.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, using feedback and training data to continually evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of learning solutions
  • Assist with testing and evaluating new technologies and digital services to understand user impact and identify learning requirements.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of our multimedia learning offering. This will involve using tools such as Camtasia for video creation
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to understand learning needs and recommend suitable learning solutions.
  • Design, develop and maintain a range of learning materials, guidance and support resources to meet evolving business requirements.

Technical Professional Skills

Essential – must be demonstrated at application and interview

  • Good knowledge of cloud-based storage and collaboration platforms, such as SharePoint, OneDrive or equivalent systems.
  • Ability to use a range of digital tools to support training delivery, learning design and collaboration.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and services.

Desirable

Desirable criteria will be used when there is a need to distinguish between candidates who are closely tied or the same after the initial consideration of essential criteria, at sift and interview.

  • Able to use content creation tools such as Camtasia or similar multimedia software for video creation.
  • A good understanding of eLearning authoring tools like Articulate 360 or Adobe Captivate or similar software.
  • Knowledge of case management systems.

Security Clearance Level

All GLD employees must hold BPSS. If successful for this post you must hold or be willing to obtain SC level clearance for this role. You can start this position while obtaining this clearance level, however continued appointment will be conditional upon obtaining the required security clearance. Visa sponsorship will not be given to candidates except where they are existing civil servants employed by GLD, who meet the HO/UKVI requirements for sponsorship. If you are an existing civil servant employed by GLD who requires sponsorship, you should confirm your eligibility for sponsorship for this role prior to application. Individuals should seek Home Office guidance on how new positions with the organisation impact on changes to sponsorship eligibility.

Candidates with Limited Leave to Remain can apply but must have at least 12 months remaining on an existing visa which allows them to work for GLD when employment commences. Candidates must ensure that their current visa dates cover the entire period of employment or that they are eligible for non-sponsored immigration routes, to allow their employment with GLD to continue for the duration of this role. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the right to work in the UK and hold an appropriate visa or are on an alternative route that covers the entire period of your employment. Please note, GLD will not be able to provide sponsorship for this role when your current visa arrangements expire and you will not be able to continue in your employment with GLD via sponsorship. Please allow three months for the onboarding process from the point of offer.
