Family Assistant at Kindred FM in Hertford

About the role

Family Assistant – 30 Hours Per Week

We’re looking for a brilliant Family Assistant to help a busy household run smoothly.

This is a varied role combining family and school admin, household organisation, meal planning and simple cooking, laundry, tidying, personal admin, errands and Airbnb/property support.

We already have a separate cleaner twice a week for the “proper” cleaning. What we need is someone who keeps everything else organised and under control.

The key thing we’re looking for is initiative .

If we’re going on holiday next week, we don’t want to have to ask you to check whether the children’s summer clothes and swim kit still fit. We want someone who has already thought of that, ordered anything missing, told the cleaner we’re away, started organising the packing and checked what food needs using up before we go.

Typical tasks might include:

  • School forms, diary dates, uniform and children’s logistics
  • Grocery ordering, meal planning and simple family cooking
  • Laundry, tidying and household organisation
  • Booking appointments and managing personal admin
  • Organising cleaners, gardeners, handymen and tradespeople
  • Online returns, errands and household purchases
  • Airbnb guest messages, maintenance and receipt/admin support

This is not a nanny role and it is not a full housekeeping role. You do need to be happy mucking in with everyday household tasks, but the deeper cleaning is handled separately.

We are looking for someone who is practical, highly organised, trustworthy and proactive — someone who notices what needs doing and gets on with it.

Previous experience as a Family Assistant, Private PA, Household PA, Nanny/PA, Housekeeper/PA or similar would be useful, but attitude matters most.

If you’re the sort of person who thinks “I’ve already sorted that” before anyone has even asked, we’d love to hear from you.

Please apply with your CV and a short note telling us why this kind of role suits you.

About The Role

We’re looking for a proactive and highly organised Family Assistant to help keep a busy household running smoothly. This varied role includes family and school admin, household organisation, meal planning and simple cooking, laundry, errands, personal admin and Airbnb/property support.

The ideal person will be practical, trustworthy and naturally one step ahead, someone who notices what needs doing and takes ownership without needing to be asked. This is not a nanny or full housekeeping role; it’s about keeping everyday family life organised, efficient and under control.

Required Criteria

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a Family Assistant, Private PA, Household PA, Nanny, Housekeeper or comparable private household role.
  • Demonstrable experience managing family diaries, school administration, appointments, household logistics and personal admin
  • Experience taking independent ownership of household tasks and anticipating requirements without needing day-to-day instruction.
  • Proven experience coordinating tradespeople, cleaners, contractors, deliveries and household services.
  • Able to provide strong, verifiable references from previous employers.
  • Strong digital capability, including calendars, email, online purchasing, booking platforms and household administration systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle, if regular errands or school-related driving form part of the role.

Desired Criteria

  • Airbnb, holiday-let or property-management experience.
  • First aid, childcare or household-management training.
