You'll help connect alumni with opportunities to support students, strengthen affinity networks and contribute to Imperial's Science for Humanity strategy and fundraising campaign.

What you would be doing

As Alumni Engagement Volunteer Officer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Imperial's alumni volunteer engagement programme, ensuring volunteers have an outstanding experience and are supported throughout their journey. You will:

  • Recruit, onboard and support alumni volunteers across Imperial's affinity networks and student-facing initiatives.

  • Coordinate volunteering opportunities, maintaining a central database and promoting opportunities through Imperial's alumni platforms.
  • Deliver volunteer training workshops, webinars and resources to equip volunteers for success.
  • Support alumni involvement in mentoring programmes, speaker events, panels and other student engagement activities.
  • Play an important role in volunteer recognition and stewardship, helping volunteers understand the impact of their contributions.
  • Support the Alumni Awards programme and maintain relationships with award recipients and alumni ambassadors.
  • Monitor volunteer activity, maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting on programme performance and impact.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a proactive and organised relationship-builder who enjoys working with people and managing a varied workload. You will have:

  • Experience supporting or managing volunteer, community engagement or similar programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience coordinating projects, activities, events, committees or advisory groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting information and delivering training.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A customer-focused approach and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and external partners.
  • Knowledge of volunteer engagement best practice and an understanding of how volunteering supports engagement and organisational goals.
  • Confidence using databases and CRM systems.

Experience within higher education, alumni relations, volunteering, fundraising or the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage.

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 43 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
  • Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.

  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
