Opogo Education is working with a Good-rated alternative provision in Hounslow, supporting primary-aged pupils who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and who may have experienced disruption in mainstream education. The school is looking for a dedicated, patient and resilient Primary Teacher to join its small, close-knit primary team for the full academic year, helping pupils re-engage with learning and prepare for their next step.

The role:

• Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons across the primary curriculum, including phonics, reading, writing and maths
• Teach and support pupils with SEMH needs, many of whom have EHC plans
• Build secure, positive relationships that help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn
• Adapt teaching for pupils who join at different points in the year, using baseline assessment to identify gaps
• Promote positive behaviour, using calm de-escalation and a consistent, nurturing approach
• Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, social skills and communication alongside their academic progress
• Help prepare pupils for successful reintegration into mainstream school or their next placement
• Work closely with support staff, mentors, families and external professionalsWe are looking for:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent
• Primary teaching experience, ideally with pupils who have SEMH or behavioural needs
• Confidence managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
• A relationship-focused, nurturing and adaptable approach to teaching
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
