Lecturer in Technical Theatre (40%)

This is a part-time role, working 14.8 hours per week .

We would particularly welcome applications from people currently working within the industry or with relevant industry experience.

If you aren't sure if you have the right qualifications, or haven't taught before, we can help you train and develop whilst you build practical experience in the classroom.

Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare.

Day to day duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

Deliver specialist teaching in technical theatre disciplines, including lighting, sound, staging, and production management, supporting the development of practical and technical skills;

Plan and assess technical and production work across performances, ensuring students develop competence in setup, operation, and production processes; Embed current industry practice, including production workflows, technical design, and backstage protocols; Ensure safe working practices in all technical theatre and performance activities, including risk assessment, equipment handling, and compliance with health and safety regulations;

• Contribute to the planning, setup, and delivery of performances and productions, working collaboratively.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

Have a degree or professional qualification in a relevant subject.

Have relevant professional or commercial experience.

• Either hold or be willing to gain a teaching qualification.
