The role:

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Workforce Employability Team has an exciting opportunity for an NHS Job Coach to support the delivery of the Scottish Government Parental Employability Programme on a fixed-term basis. The programme aims to help parents at risk of poverty enter, sustain and progress in employment through paid NHS placements, family-friendly recruitment, wraparound support and clear pathways into NHS careers. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference to individuals, families and communities across Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Working as part of an ambitious programme supporting NHS Scotland's contribution to tackling child poverty, you will help parents develop confidence, overcome barriers to employment and build brighter futures through meaningful work.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This post is fixed-term – 12 months, working full-time hours (36)

  • This will be an agile working post however, your main base has yet to be confirmedKey responsibilities:

As an NHS Job Coach, you will provide practical coaching and in-work support to programme participants and work closely with managers, workplace mentors, employability partners and internal services to help participants succeed in their placement and progress towards sustainable employment.

You will support individuals with confidence building, workplace adjustment, communication, employability skills, progression planning, applications and interview preparation. You will also play an important role in supporting managers to create inclusive and supportive placement experiences, helping to identify and address barriers early and ensuring participants receive the support they need to thrive in the workplace. Working alongside local employability partners, you will contribute to a programme designed to widen access to NHS employment and create new pathways into the future workforce.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Experience of providing employability, coaching, mentoring, pastoral or workplace support.
  • Experience of supporting people who may face barriers to employment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive and supportive working relationships.
  • Ability to support individuals to develop confidence and overcome barriers to employment.
  • Knowledge of employability services would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of inclusive recruitment would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of NHS careers and employment pathways would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of local employability pathways and support services would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, workplace mentors, employability partners and internal services.
