The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to join the ECMS Medical Specialities team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital as a Charge Nurse within Ward 18 (Acute Medicine/Gastroenterology). The post involves supporting the assessment, planning and delivery of specialist care for patients within a fast-paced acute medical environment. The successful candidate will also provide leadership to the nursing team and support the Senior Charge Nurse with operational responsibilities.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Permanent, full-time - 36 hours per week
  • Shift pattern - Rotational
  • Base location - Royal Alexandra HospitalKey responsibilities:
  • Support the assessment, planning and delivery of specialist patient care.
  • Lead and support the nursing team within a dynamic acute care environment.
  • Enhance the patient journey and patient experience using the Excellence in Care framework.
  • Contribute to the delivery of positive patient outcomes.
  • Work independently while providing leadership and support to the wider team.
  • Support the Senior Charge Nurse with:
  • Workforce planning and efficiency.
  • Financial resource management.
  • HR processes and procedures.
  • Apply quality improvement methodologies to service delivery.
  • Demonstrate innovation and creativity within the role.
  • Engage and support the clinical team in programmes of care development.Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Registered Nurse with an active NMC UK PIN (essential).
  • Significant post-registration experience within an acute care or acute medical environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of caring for gastroenterology patients is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to support service improvement and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of workforce, financial and HR processes relevant to a senior nursing role.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed clinical decisions.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.What we offer:
