Furrowfield School is looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and highly committed Site Manager to take pride in our school site and help us ensure that it remains a safe, secure, welcoming and exceptional environment in which to work and learn.
This is a particularly exciting time to join us. Our school has recently undergone extensive renovation and refurbishment, including new wiring, LED sensor lighting, redecoration and new carpets throughout. We are incredibly proud of the environment we have created and the facilities available to our students and staff, including our Therapeutic Assessment and Support Centre (TASC).
We need someone who will be just as proud of Furrowfield as we are.

The opportunity
This is much more than simply maintaining a building.
We are looking for someone who will take ownership of our school environment, spot what needs doing, find solutions and take genuine pride in ensuring Furrowfield is always at its best.
No two days will necessarily be the same. You could be completing essential premises checks, carrying out a repair, organising contractors, improving an area of the school, managing security arrangements or responding to an unexpected problem.
You will have responsibility for the day-to-day security, maintenance and upkeep of the school premises and grounds, working closely with the School Business Manager and wider school team.
- Your responsibilities will include
- Ensuring our school site is safe, secure, clean, welcoming and exceptionally well maintained
- Acting as the main key holder and taking responsibility for opening, closing and securing the premises
- Undertaking general maintenance, minor repairs and practical handyperson duties
- Taking a proactive approach to identifying maintenance and premises issues before they become bigger problems
- Carrying out and recording statutory and routine health and safety checks
- Monitoring fire, security and alarm systems and responding appropriately when required
- Supporting water hygiene and legionella monitoring requirements
- Monitoring contractors and ensuring appropriate health, safety and security procedures are followed
- Helping to maintain our school grounds and external areas to a high standard
- Maintaining accurate premises and health and safety records using the school’s IT systems
- Obtaining quotations for contracted work and helping the school achieve best value
- Supporting the effective management of cleaning arrangements, equipment and supplies
- Undertaking daily checks of the school minibus and organising servicing and maintenance
- Responding calmly and effectively to premises-related issues and emergencies
- Working flexibly when required, including occasional evening and weekend lettings
