The Role

The post holder will provide strategic, professional and psychological leadership for the psychological components of the Obesity Pathway Innovation Programme (OPIP) and associated weight management transformation activity. This is a predominantly non-clinical role focused on service redesign, digital innovation and the development of psychologically informed digital models of care. The post holder will lead the integration of psychological theory, behaviour change science and evidence-based practice within service transformation initiatives, with a particular focus on developing and enhancing automated patient assessment, screening and risk stratification processes. Working collaboratively with senior clinical, managerial and operational leaders, they will provide expert consultancy and strategic advice to support the delivery of efficient, equitable and person-centred services, while maintaining responsibility for governance, evaluation, workforce development and specialist professional input where required.

What we'll need you to bring

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential criteria as outlined in our person specification:

Qualifications & Training

• Eligibility for Registration: You must be eligible for Registration as a Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist as per the requirements laid down by the British Psychological Society (BPS). This can be met by:
• Holding a post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (including academic, research, and clinical components), OR
• Being granted a statement of equivalence by the BPS for qualifications gained overseas, OR
• Having attained chartered status via the "grandparenting" route.
• Management & Leadership: You must have completed specific courses in the theory and practice of management and leadership.
• Specialised Therapies: You must have post-qualification training in specialised psychological therapies.

Experience

• Service Management: Demonstrable experience in the management or co-ordination of personnel delivering clinical services.
• Strategic Planning: Proven experience in policy design and implementation, and service planning at both a local and national level.

Knowledge

• Professional Issues: A broad understanding of all relevant professional issues.
• Clinical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of major assessment techniques, intervention approaches (including cognitive-behavioural, systemic, and others), and the application of complex statistical methods for test interpretation and validation.
• Service Context: A thorough understanding of relevant legislation, government policies, and the broader context of service delivery for the service user group.

It would be great if you also have

• Post-qualification training/CPD in Leadership.
• Experience in a Leadership role within a patient/client group setting.
• The ability to teach and train others using a variety of complex multi-media materials.
• A range of non-clinical skills, including computer skills and statistical knowledge.
