The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an independent and suitably qualified Multiagency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) / Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Panel (DAPP) Chair, working approximately 6-8 hours per week, working virtually on a self-employed basis.
As a MARAC/DAPP Panel Chair you will ensure that the meeting provides a high level of quality assurance in respect of the formulation and implementation of outcome focussed safety plans for the victim, perpetrator, child/ren and others identified as high risk.
Based on referrals and research provided by all agencies you will briefly outline the circumstances and apparent risks for each case. Each agency will present their research and you will facilitate a discussion to establish the full circumstances, risks and control measures. At the end of each case, you will ensure that the administrator has recorded the action plan devised during the discussion.
You will have in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation particularly Child Protection and Safeguarding Procedures. You will be skilled and experienced in working in the fields of domestic abuse and safeguarding and be able to demonstrate the abilities to chair complex high risk multi-agency meetings.

- Providing robust chairing and oversight of the North Somerset MARAC (Multiagency Risk Assessment Conference
- Working with key agencies within the meeting to identify risks and formulate suitable action to reduce risk and harm and provide support for domestic abuse survivors and children and address those causing harm.
Work Style

We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

About You
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about keeping domestic abuse survivors and children safe and who possesses the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria:
- Safelives MARAC Chair Training undertaken or willingness to do so.
- Hold a relevant professional qualification or equivalent specialist experience in domestic abuse or safeguarding.
- A thorough understanding of primary legislation relating to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant domestic abuse legislation, local safeguarding arrangements.
Skills and abilities
- Excellent communication, negotiation, consultation and influencing skills.
- Ability to lead, build relationships and communicate with colleagues and partners.
- Ability to risk assess and formulate plans that have a tangible impact on domestic abuse survivor and children’s lives.
- Ability to work independently and chair complex meetings, evaluate information and make clear decisions.
- Competent IT skills.
- A robust wifi connection, secure email and ability to dial into Microsoft Teams.
