Commissioning Officer

Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Commissioning Officer to join the Neighbourhood Health South team within the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board.

As a Commissioning Officer, you will support the planning, commissioning, contracting and continuous improvement of services across women's, children's and young people's health services, working closely with commissioners, providers and key stakeholders.

This vacancy is open to employees of NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NENC ICB) and North of England Commissioning Support Unit (NECS) only.

Main duties of the job o Manage a portfolio of contracts, projects and commissioning workstreams relating to services for women, children and young people. o Support the planning, development, commissioning and transformation of services, ensuring they reflect local needs, national priorities and the ICB's strategic objectives. o Develop and review service specifications, quality standards, outcomes and performance measures, supporting contract negotiation and management. o Monitor and analyse provider performance, activity, quality, expenditure and delivery, investigating areas of variation and overseeing agreed improvement actions. o Prepare clear reports, briefings and recommendations to support collaborative commissioning and informed decision-making. o Build effective relationships with providers and system partners, including acute and community providers, local authorities and voluntary organisations

Our Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the largest in the country. The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities.

It has a wide range of functions, including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, reducing health inequalities. With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria.

As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community- based area providers.

The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.

Qualifications

Essential Word processing and Excel qualifications (intermediate level), or equivalent experience.
