The Role
Bunzl Safety & Workwear – EHM London is currently looking for an experienced HGV Class 2 Relief Driver to join our team on a 6-month temporary, part-time contract.
Most of the role will involve van-based delivery duties, delivering PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and site consumable products to our extensive network of customers within the construction industry.
As a relief driver, you will also be required to provide cover for our HGV Class 2 vehicle when needed. This means the successful candidate must be comfortable undertaking both van delivery duties and HGV Class 2 driving as and when required.
Deliveries will be made throughout Greater London and surrounding areas, providing a professional, reliable and customer-focused service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out the majority of deliveries using company vans.
- Provide relief cover for the company's HGV Class 2 vehicle as and when required.
- Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles when providing cover.
- Deliver PPE and site consumable products to customers within the construction industry.
- Complete multi-drop deliveries safely, efficiently and on time.
- Carry out daily vehicle defect checks and report any issues.
- Comply fully with Drivers' Hours Regulations.
- Comply with Working Time Directive requirements.
- Complete PODs (Proof of Delivery) and all required delivery paperwork accurately.
- Load and unload goods, including manual handling and lifting in line with Health & Safety guidelines.
- Ensure loads are correctly secured before and during transit.
- Provide excellent customer service at every delivery.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents and near misses promptly.
- Maintain company standards and FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) requirements.
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and requirements.About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A valid HGV Class 2 / Class C driving licence.
- A minimum of 2 years' multi-drop delivery experience is preferred.
- A valid CPC and Driver Digital Tachograph Card.
- Experience driving HGV Class 2 vehicles and providing multi-drop delivery services.
- A good understanding of Drivers' Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive requirements.
- Knowledge and experience of safe load securing.
- Experience carrying out daily vehicle safety and defect checks.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A professional, reliable and flexible approach.
- The ability to undertake manual handling and lifting as part of the role.
