Accredited Financial Investigator (AFI)

Please note this is a fixed term post for one year

We have an exciting role on offer within our Trading Standards service as an Accredited Financial Investigator.

This is an exciting new role to lead complex financial investigations using powers under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA), to help to recover criminal assets and ensure offenders do not profit from crime.

You will work on confiscation, restraint, money laundering investigations, cash seizures, and asset recovery, preparing cases for court and working with partner agencies including HMRC, the National Crime Agency and regional enforcement teams.

The post is based in the Trading Standards team, and your work will cover all council services.

We are looking for candidates who hold current Accredited Financial Investigator qualifications, have substantial experience of handling financial investigations, confiscation and money laundering cases and are experienced in preparing for and presenting evidence in court.

You will need good analytical skills and be able to communicate and work together with partners. The Public Protection Service and Trading Standards teams are friendly, innovative and highly regarded, delivering a wide range of regulatory services which protect the public, businesses and consumers.
