Job summary

To provide clinical fellow support to the Respiratory inpatient and outpatient service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust under the direction of the responsible Consultant Respiratory Physician Main duties of the job As part of our commitment to patients and delivery of a world class service for all we have created the UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) System in partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle; this involves a structured approach to removing waste and putting the patient first using a lean management system and methodologies.

Our culture and ways of working reflect and embed the practices and methodologies of UHCWi. You are expected, where identified, to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities to support this. This may include Lean for Leaders, Advanced Lean Training, and the Human Factors Programme, amongst others.

Full attendance and completion of identified courses is considered essential and a prerequisite for this post.

responsibilities

Provision of service in respiratory medicine with responsibility for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness. The Junior Clinical Fellow doctor will need to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team. They will contribute to the development of Integrated Respiratory Unit.

Participate in the general medical rota with specialist registrars, resident. Professional supervision of more junior members of the team, including teaching of nursing and medical staff and medical students. Participation in regular clinical audit, clinical governance and continuing professional development.

The successful candidate will be accountable for improving and complying with infection control practices.

Qualifications

Essential Meets all Essential Desirable Meets all Desirable Experience Essential 3 yrs medical experience including 18 months emergency medical take, 6 months unselected take ? Recent Respiratory ward working experience in the NHS Ability Essential Management of all common medical emergencies. ?

To be clear, fluent and articulate in communication in English Motivation Essential To complete specialist training in General Internal Medicine and undertake research relevant to this speciality. Research Essential Desire to undertake research leading to a higher degree during training. ?

Willingness to undertake research project. Desirable Evidence of understanding principles Management Ability Essential Leadership skills ? Rota management ?

Ability to work as a member of a team.
