- What you would do
Typical responsibilities could include:
- Developing and delivering mechanical designs that meet functional and regulatory requirements
- Creating detailed design documentation, technical drawings and specifications using industry-standard tools
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, controls specialists and project managers
- Conducting design analysis, tolerance studies and design reviews to ensure quality and manufacturability
- Supporting component and material selection based on performance, cost and sustainability criteria
- Contributing to continuous improvement of design processes and engineering standards
- Liaising with suppliers, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure design intent is maintained through production
- What you could bring
Most roles of this type require the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Proven experience in mechanical design, with demonstrated proficiency in CAD tools and design software
- Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, materials science and manufacturing processes
- Experience working to ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management standards
Familiarity with design documentation standards, GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) and technical drawing conventions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and non-engineering teams
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with FEA (finite element analysis) or simulation tools
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements or design standards relevant to your industry sector
- Project management experience or exposure
- Experience in agile or collaborative design environments
