About the role

  • Trainee Flight Co-ordinator
  • Location: Belfast International Airport, Northern Ireland
  • Shift Pattern: 4-on-4-off (Rotating 12-hour Days & Nights)

Starting Salary: £30,000 Basic | Progression to £33,200 Base after training | OTE £37,200 after 12 months.

As a Flight Co-ordinator, you will sit at the very heart of our 24/7 mission-critical operations control centre. In one hour, you could be coordinating a rapid-response medical flight for NHS Blood and Transplant or dispatching an air ambulance to facilitate critical paediatric transport across the Northern Ireland . The next, you could be managing the intricate logistics, flight paths, and ground handling for bespoke VIP Executive Jet clients.

The Role & Responsibilities

Following your structured training program, you will operate as an integral part of our dispatch desk, managing end-to-end flight logistics:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for NHS medical teams, executive clients, flight crews, and airport service providers.
  • Coordinate rapid-response charter flights for emergency medical logistics, organ transport, and air ambulance patient transfers.
  • Plan and schedule flight routes, slot times, aircraft clearances, ground handling, and crew rosters.
  • Generate quotes, issue flight itineraries, process flight logging, and manage client invoicing.
  • Monitor live flight movements using specialised aviation software, adapting swiftly to changing weather, air traffic, or medical priorities.
  • Participate in a 4-on-4-off rotating day/night roster providing seamless 24/7 coverage.

What We Are Looking For

You don’t need a background in aviation; we will teach you the technical skills. What we need is your drive, composure, and problem-solving mindset.

Essential Criteria:

  • Education: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A*–C / 9–4) including English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal English communication, paired with strong IT literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Attributes: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and the composure to stay calm under time-critical pressure.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work a 12-hour rotating day and night shift pattern (4-on-4-off).
  • Licence & Checks: Valid, clean Driving Licence. Due to airport security regulations, a full 5-year checkable employment/education history and a basic criminal record check (AccessNI) are required.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience in aviation, customer service, blue-light dispatch, emergency coordination, or high-pressure logistics is an advantage, but not essential.
