About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Facilitator to join the Neonatal Medicine Research Group and support PPIE activities for the COLLABORATE study.

COLLABORATE is a five-year study exploring the best feeding methods for babies born very preterm (before 29 weeks of gestation). Working in partnership with people with lived experience of preterm birth or necrotising enterocolitis is an essential part of our research.

You will work closely with the PPIE Lead to provide high-quality administrative and organisational support for the planning, coordination and delivery of PPIE activities, helping to ensure that parents, former patients and other public contributors are meaningfully involved in our research.

What you would be doing

As PPIE Facilitator, you will support the planning and delivery of online and in-person PPIE activities, including meetings, workshops and focus groups. You will help coordinate venues, materials and communications, liaise with public contributors and support the facilitation and evaluation of activities.

You will also administer PPIE expense claims, maintain accurate records, support the monitoring of PPIE activities and contribute to communications and dissemination, including blogs, newsletters and social media. Working with the PPIE Lead, you will help ensure that PPIE activities are inclusive, accessible and effectively communicated across the COLLABORATE study.

• A good level of education to degree level or equivalent experience.
• Experience of providing administrative support in a busy working environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and a well-structured approach to administration.
• The ability to use initiative, work independently and take a proactive approach.
• The ability to build effective working relationships with people across different organisations, disciplines and professions.
• Knowledge of current guidelines and standards for public involvement and engagement.
• A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and to ensuring that people from a broad range of backgrounds are able to contribute meaningfully.
• Experience of participatory research methods, organising focus groups, working within the NHS or higher education, and using survey platforms such as Qualtrics would be advantageous.

Further information

This is a part-time position at 0.2 FTE (equivalent to one day per week), fixed term until 31 May 2030. While the total hours are flexible, there is a preference for them to be worked across multiple days.

The expected start date is January 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will be part of the Neonatal Medicine Research Group and will work closely with the Patient Experience Research Centre (PERC) at Imperial.

Occasional out-of-hours working may be required to support PPIE events.
