About the Role

The Warehouse Worker safely handles, moves, stores, and tracks inventory for both expendable and non-expendable items. This position is within the General Services Office and reports directly to the Warehouse Team Leader (or designee).

What You'll Do

Warehouse Operations & Maintenance

  • Loads and unloads expendable and non-expendable items — including furniture, appliances, and similar goods — between trucks/vans and the warehouse
  • Organises, prepares, and delivers items to office buildings, residential properties, and other locations as needed
  • Operates forklifts, trolleys, and other mechanical or electrical equipment to safely transport heavy items
  • Packs, unpacks, and delivers welcome kits to new arrivals as directed by the supervisor
  • Distributes expendable supplies to customers and sections as required
  • Maintains cleanliness and security of storage areas through regular cleaning, polishing, and dusting
  • Conducts routine safety inspections of the warehouse and equipment, reporting discrepancies to the supervisor
  • Serves as an incidental operator of official vehicles in accordance with 14 FAM 433
  • Collects and delivers supplies as required

Inventory

  • Maintains a log of incoming and outgoing warehouse items to support inventory control
  • Conducts annual warehouse inventories to verify proper storage, identify safety or fire hazards, and detect theft
  • Conducts individual residential inventories to inspect embassy property for damage or loss, reporting discrepancies for replacement
  • Assists in arranging items for sale or disposal

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Provides manual assistance during official visits and events, including setting up control rooms, safeguarding property, and tracking equipment
  • Escorts visitors, outside contractors, and non-cleared personnel on post as required
  • Provides general manual labour support to any section or office at the supervisor's direction

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of primary school is required.
  • Experience: Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in manual labour or warehouse work.
  • Language: Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Driver's Licence: Must have a valid full manual UK/EU/EEA driver's licence for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes

Job Knowledge:

Must have a good working knowledge of the following:

  • Warehouse operations, procedures and security standards
  • Maintenance and efficient usage of warehouse storage space
  • Conducting inventory and stacking of items/equipment

Skills And Abilities:

  • Able to operate warehouse tools and equipment, including forklifts, hand trolleys, and electronic lifters, in a safe manner
  • Able to perform assigned tasks across all weather and environmental conditions, including extreme heat, severe cold, high winds, and wet or dry conditions

Please note, this role will involve loading, unloading, and handling heavy objects, and lifting up to 51 lbs (23 kg).
