We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Scottish Bowel Screening Laboratory team based at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

As part of a dedicated team supporting the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme, you will play an important role in the receipt, preparation and processing of faecal sample kits for testing. Working within a busy laboratory environment, you will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality screening service that helps improve health outcomes across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort and prioritise faecal sample kits for laboratory testing.
  • Prepare samples and associated documentation in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Safely dispose of clinical samples and waste materials.
  • Undertake a range of routine laboratory duties to support service delivery.
  • Assist with quality management activities and compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to manage a high-volume workload, processing thousands of items each day.About You

You will be reliable, organised and able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and good communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment would be advantageous; however, this is not essential as full training will be provided.

Hours of work are: 20 Hours per week between 10.00 – 14.00 Monday to Friday
