An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in breast and hepatobiliary cancers.

The post is for a permanent (10 PA) Clinical Oncologist .The successful candidate will join established multidisciplinary teams within a supportive and collaborative environment, with opportunities to contribute to service development, teaching, and research within a highly regarded oncology service.

Main duties of the job BHOC is one of the UK's leading comprehensive cancer centres, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across the South West.

The centre brings together a wide range of specialist services including radiotherapy, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, systemic anti-cancer therapies, haematology, palliative care, clinical psychology, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), and adolescent and young adult cancer services.

Ability to offer expert clinical opinion across a wide range of oncological situations both elective and emergency. Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients and be able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Specialist experience in Breast and HPB cancers Knowledge & Skills Essential Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty Commitment to continuing medical education. Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty skills in oncology.

Desirable IT Skills Clinical Governance & Audit Essential Awareness of the requirements of clinical governance, with particular reference to the speciality. Experience in organising audit. Ability to organise efficient and smooth running specialist service.

Ability to organise and prioritise workload. Research Essential Knowledge of the ethics, principles and practice of clinical research and proven participation in clinical research. GCP training.

Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems. Desirable Publications in peer reviewed journals Ability to increase the academic profile of the Directorate. Experience in implementing, developing and evaluating undergraduate and/or postgraduate training.

Interest in clinical research and experience in supervising undergraduate +/- postgraduate research projects Teaching & Training Essential Experience and interest in teaching of staff, both undergraduate and postgraduate and from all disciplines Experience of supervising trainees. Knowledge of teaching to a multidisciplinary team.

Management & Leadership Essential Evidence of management training and evidence of learning from it. Ability to organise efficient and smooth running of a specialist service Ability to cope with and effectively organise the workload of a consultant.
