Our Employer Engagement Officer will be based within our University Placements team, responsible for building and sustaining the employer relationships that create placement opportunities for MSc students across our university partners.

The role demands a high degree of self-direction and professional resilience. You will thrive on taking ownership of your pipeline without external motivation. You reflect honestly on what is and is not working, as well as maintaining consistency and professionalism.

Our ideal candidate brings a genuine curiosity about different industries, takes satisfaction in creating an opportunity that genuinely fits a student’s background, and understands the difference between a placement that works and one that simply fills a box.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, develop and maintain an Employer pipeline.
  • Develop and maintain substantive knowledge of the sectors relevant to MSc
  • Informed on early career hiring trends, sector-specific hiring cycles and the economic and regulatory factors which influence employer appetite for placement students.
  • Employer advocacy and relationship management.
  • Student employer matching.

Essential Knowledge & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience building professional relationships from scratch, following up consistently over time, and bringing those relationships to a productive outcome — in any professional context
  • An informed understanding of the visa and work authorisation framework for international placement students, or a clear ability and willingness to develop this quickly
  • Professional resilience and self-motivation: able to sustain consistent, high-quality outreach over an extended period without requiring external encouragement
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication: able to produce a professional outreach message, hold a credible conversation with a senior employer contact and brief a student clearly on a specific opportunity
  • Collaborative working: able to share employer intelligence effectively with the Student Engagement team and contribute to a joined-up approach to student preparation and matching
