Are you a creative communications professional with a passion for engagement, storytelling and organisational change? Birmingham City Council is looking for an Associate Contact Lead to join our newly established Commercial and Procurement Services (CPS).

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the identity and reputation of a modern procurement function. You'll develop engaging communications, deliver impactful campaigns and ensure colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders understand the value that Commercial and Procurement Services brings to one of the UK's largest local authorities.

About the Role

As an Associate Contact Lead, you'll play a key role in building engagement and strengthening the profile of Commercial and Procurement Services by:

Developing and delivering a multichannel engagement strategy that promotes procurement initiatives, commercial priorities and organisational change. 

Planning and delivering communication campaigns that engage colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders across a variety of digital and face-to-face channels. 

Producing clear, engaging and accessible content for the intranet, newsletters, email communications, LinkedIn and other digital platforms. 

Translating complex procurement, policy and commercial information into practical, easy-to-understand communications for a wide range of audiences. 

Creating high-quality promotional materials for events, recruitment campaigns, supplier engagement activities and learning initiatives. 

Championing the Commercial and Procurement Services brand, helping position the service as a trusted strategic partner across the Council. 

Measuring the effectiveness of engagement activities and using insight to continually improve communications, awareness and stakeholder engagement. 

About You

We're looking for someone who combines creativity with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. You'll bring:

Experience delivering communication, engagement or marketing campaigns across multiple channels within a complex organisation. 

Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce engaging content for both specialist and non-specialist audiences. 

Experience supporting organisational change or transformation through effective communications and stakeholder engagement. 

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and priorities simultaneously. 
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, working collaboratively with colleagues, leaders and external stakeholders. 
  • The ability to analyse engagement data and use insight to improve communications and influence behaviour. 
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and delivering innovative, audience-focused communications.
