JOB DESCRIPTIONCANVASSER

Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board was established by the Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995 to carry out the valuation functions of East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire Councils. It came into existence on 1st April, 1996 and was also given the responsibility of carrying out Electoral Registration on behalf of the three constituent authorities.

The Assessor for Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is responsible for compiling and maintaining the Register of Electors for East, North and South Ayrshire constituent authorities.

We are offering an exciting opportunity to work with our Electoral Registration team carrying out door to door canvass duties using a canvass tablet in relation to the Electoral Register where you would provide administrative support to a section associated with the maintenance of the Electoral Register.

You must have a driving licence and access to a car.

Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board has been established since 1996 and discharges jointly the functions of North, South and East Ayrshire Valuation authorities. 

Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is a council in its own right, separate from the three Ayrshire Councils, comprising 16 members, elected councillors from each of the three authorities for which the Board has responsibility. 

The Board appoints the Assessor who is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll and Valuation List, these are the base documents which are required for the three Ayrshire Councils to in gather non-domestic rates and council tax.

The three Councils have also appointed the Assessor to be the Electoral Registration Officer, responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Register of Electors which is essential for all Parliamentary and Local Government Elections.REQUIREMENTSThis post is subject to a Level 1 Disclosure, and you may be required to meet the cost. ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThis post is temporary until 31/05/2027.

The grade of this post is Level 1.

The work style for this post is Agile worker.

The successful candidate will primarily work from home with occasional travel within the South Ayrshire area. Frequency for attending the office may vary depending on the exigencies of the service.

The work pattern is:

Flexible - Monday - Thursday 8.45 am - 4.45 pm and Friday 8.45 am - 3.55 pm.
