The role:

Are you an organised, proactive and compassionate administrator looking to make a real difference to patient care? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Medical Secretary to provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to Consultants and multidisciplinary teams within Acute Services. This is a rewarding and varied role where you will play a key part in supporting patient pathways, coordinating clinical activity and ensuring the smooth running of busy services. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Part-time, Permanent
  • You will be based at The New Victoria Hospital
  • Working Pattern: Monday and Tuesday 8.30-4.30
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.Key responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Consultants and clinical teams
  • Manage diaries, correspondence, clinic administration and a range of departmental processes
  • Coordinate patient appointments, admissions, investigations and follow-up arrangements
  • Act as a key point of contact for patients, relatives, staff and external agencies, dealing with enquiries professionally and sensitively
  • Maintain accurate patient information using a variety of clinical and administrative systems
  • Support waiting list management and contribute to achieving service targets and performance standards
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient and effective patient care deliveryKnowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • HNC/SVQ Level III in Secretarial Studies, Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a demanding workload
  • Advanced keyboard skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic information systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and maintain confidentiality, diplomacy and tact at all times
  • Experience within a healthcare environment and knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageousWhat we offer:
