Managing Conflict Between Hybrid Work Arrangements and Office Culture

Jayden Ryan · 5 Aug 2026

Hybrid work arrangements have been in place since the pandemic and it's been a challenge to maintain our office culture, I am finding it tough to ensure that our remote workers do not miss out on important meetings and social events. Do we need to rethink our office layout to accommodate more collaboration spaces or should we focus on creating virtual social events to include our remote workers. I've noticed that our team's productivity has increased but our watercooler conversations have decreased, so I am wondering how other companies are handling this issue. What strategies have you used to keep your office culture alive while still allowing for flexible work arrangements?

I made a similar mistake last year by not setting clear expectations for remote workers to check in regularly with the team, and it took us 6 months to recover from the disconnect that formed.
