Managing the Fallout from Recent UK Corporate Tax Reform

Salma Sarkar 路 2 Aug 2026

I am finding it tough to keep up with the latest changes in UK corporate tax law, which came into effect this month, and we have already seen a significant impact on our company's financial planning. As an employer, I do not want to pass on the increased tax burden to our employees, but we have to make some tough decisions to stay competitive. We are considering restructuring our benefits package, but I am worried about the potential backlash from staff, so I want to know: how are other companies handling the new tax rules and what strategies are they using to minimize the impact on their workforce?

We're using Xero to model different scenarios and test the impact of tax changes on our cash flow.

I messed up our own tax planning last year and we're still feeling the effects, so I'm not surprised you're struggling with the new reforms.

Adding my own experience. We're using a tax impact modelling tool from KPMG to help identify areas where we can offset the increased tax burden without affecting employee benefits.

We tried to offset the tax increase by reducing our company's pension contributions, but that didn't go down well with our staff, and we ended up having to revisit that decision after a lot of pushback from our employee union.
