Managing Quiet Quitting Among Young Professionals

Liam Bennett · 2 Aug 2026

Young professionals here are doing the bare minimum, meeting their core responsibilities but not going beyond, which is affecting our team's overall performance. We have tried to address this through regular check-ins and feedback sessions, but do not seem to be making much progress. As someone who has been in the corporate world for over a decade, I am finding it challenging to understand what motivates this younger generation, and I wonder if other employers are facing similar issues, so what strategies have you found to be effective in motivating and engaging young professionals who seem to be quietly quitting.

Having recently made the transition to a team leader myself, I've noticed that younger colleagues tend to respond well to autonomy and clear goals, so I'm wondering, what kind of flexibility and objective-setting have you implemented in your team so far?
