The Great Resignation Replay

Brianna Biswas 路 28 Jul 2026

I am seeing a resurgence of employees handing in their notice, and we have no idea how to stop it, as the reasons for leaving are not just about salary, but also about lack of challenge and boredom with their current roles. We've tried offering training and development opportunities, but they do not seem to be making a difference. Our staff turnover rate is now higher than it was during the pandemic, and we are struggling to find suitable replacements, which is putting a huge strain on our existing team. How do we prevent this mass exodus and keep our top talent from walking out the door?

We're seeing similar issues and have started using exit interviews to identify patterns, which has helped us pinpoint specific role changes that can prevent departures.

We wasted a fortune on a employee engagement platform that was supposed to help us identify issues before people quit, but it just ended up being another pointless survey tool.

I was expecting a different outcome when we introduced flexible working hours, but it seems that's not been enough to stem the flow of resignations. We've had around 20 people leave in the past 6 months, and the recruitment process is taking up a lot of my team's time, which is taking a toll on our budget. Our HR system, which is powered by Workday, is helping us track the trends, but we cannot seem to pinpoint the exact reasons why people are choosing to leave, despite exit interviews and surveys.

I've been noticing a similar trend in our own company, with people leaving for reasons that aren't just about money, but also about feeling undervalued or stuck in a rut. We've been trying to address this by giving staff more autonomy and allowing them to work on side projects, which seems to be helping a bit. Can you tell me more about what kind of training and development opportunities you've been offering, and how you're promoting them to your staff, as I'm curious to know if we're missing something?

We've seen similar issues at our firm, with many staff members feeling undervalued due to lack of autonomy in their roles. Can you tell me more about your current approach to job design and whether you've considered introducing more flexible working arrangements or project-based work to keep staff engaged?
