Microsoft Teams Premium pricing is crushing smaller sales teams

Beau Lamb · 4d ago

350-seat minimums kicking in this July have our outbound reps scrambling to justify platform costs on every client call, and I'm hearing real pushback from mid-market prospects who've started rejecting the bundled license fees. We're now fielding objections we didn't face last quarter, as buyers flag the seat count as overkill for their workflows. How are other BDMs in UK SaaS dealing with the upsell when the tool itself becomes the objection?

Honestly, I’ve seen our finance team limit Teams Premium to 150 seats and supplement the rest with Slack Free to stay under the £12k quarterly cap. That way the seat count stops being the objection because we aren’t forcing every rep onto a premium licence and the ROI shows about a 12 percent lift in closed won rates versus an all‑in approach.
