Account Executive burnout spikes after Zoom's Live Translate rollout

Donna Boyd · 5d ago

Since Zoom introduced Live Translate for real‑time multilingual calls in early July, my team’s average call length’s jumped by 20% and the AI sometimes mangles industry‑specific terminology, leaving prospects confused. The extra prep time’s eating into our quota‑carrying capacity, and our manager’s pushing us to hit the same targets despite the slowdown. Has anyone found practical ways to balance the new tool’s promise with the reality of longer sales cycles, or is it time to push back on the rollout?

Selling into a shrinking market means going deeper not wider. Account expansion is our growth strategy now.

Stop pretending AI translation is free capacity until the numbers prove it, I’d cut 10% off quota or pause translated calls for a month. Track call length and terminology errors in Gong or Zoom IQ, then take that evidence to your manager instead of arguing vibes.
