EU AI Act deadline puts UK ATS audits on HR desks

Sanjay Ong · 6d ago

EU AI Act employment rules start applying in August 2026, and our UK recruitment team's just realised our ATS vendor scores candidates before a human opens the profile. We're being asked for risk logs, candidate notices, human oversight evidence, and proof that agency sourcing tools aren't feeding protected characteristics into shortlists, but the supplier's contract only promises general GDPR wording. For employers using Workable, Greenhouse, Beamery, or a CV parser, who's actually owning the audit trail before candidates start challenging automated decisions?

We have been scrambling too since our ATS started auto-scoring CVs last month and I do not think our vendor contract covers the algorithmic transparency requirements at all. We are now using HireVue's bias audit module and spending 15 hours a week just to keep everything documented for the auditors.
