Companies House identity verification's become the hidden bottleneck in our July 2026 close prep, with two directors still waiting on codes and a company secretary worried a rushed filing could get rejected. We're also holding a supplier onboarding because the target company's director check hasn't cleared, so legal, finance, and ops are blaming each other for a delay nobody owned. Look, paying a premium for a fast‑track verification from a specialist agent is the only way to keep the close on track. It feels wasteful but the cost of a missed filing deadline is far higher.

We tried the GOV.UK online portal back in May and it timed out twice, so we are still waiting on the physical card. I never thought the system would crash on a Tuesday afternoon like that.
