Workday talent marketplace reshuffle stalls internal hires

Linda Black · 3 Sep 2026

Hiring leads have noticed internal applications vanishing from their dashboards ever since Workday’s talent marketplace went live, forcing them to chase candidates through a new request workflow. The platform promises faster mobility, but the auto‑routing rules are opaque and our talent acquisition team’s KPIs have slipped, which hasn’t sat well with line managers. Has anyone figured out how to tweak the routing settings or negotiate a compromise that keeps managers in the loop without drowning HR in extra tickets?

Honestly, after our last restructure we added a simple filter in Workday that copies any internal candidate into a shared spreadsheet so managers can see them even if the auto routing hides them. It added a few extra clicks but we cut the missed application rate by about 20% and our TA folks stopped getting fire drilled for missing hires. If you haven't tried a parallel view in Workday's reporting module yet, it might give you that visibility without breaking the new workflow.

I just turn off the auto routing and let managers pull candidates manually, it works better.

We set up a custom internal candidate report that auto emails hiring leads the moment an internal app lands on a requisition, so nothing slips through the dashboard. Since I moved to my new role six months ago, we hooked that report into Power BI and got a live board that cut our internal fill time by roughly 20 %. If you can get the analytics admin on board, the extra visibility usually keeps managers happy without killing the marketplace flow.
