Friends Provident Foundation is entering a new chapter. After two decades under the stewardship of Danielle Walker Palmour, who will retire in early 2027, the Foundation is seeking a new Chief Executive to lead its work connecting, funding, supporting and investing in new thinking to shape a future economy that works for people and planet.

Rooted in Quaker values of equality, justice and stewardship, the Foundation deploys the whole of its £23m endowment in pursuit of its mission, not just its grants and social investments. Over the past twenty years it has helped build a movement of organisations working to reimagine our economic systems, through an ambitious portfolio of grants and social investments, a proactive approach to its own investment practice, and by convening those at the leading edge of economic systems change.

The Chief Executive will work closely with an engaged Board of Trustees, with real scope to shape how the Foundation's endowment and full range of activities are deployed in pursuit of its mission. This is a role for an ambitious, values-led leader, someone able to inspire and develop a dedicated, high-quality team of nine and translate commitment into lasting impact.

You will be entrepreneurial and creative in your thinking, with the strategic judgement to combine intellectual leadership with practical delivery. You will bring high levels of integrity, professionalism and commitment to transparency, and a genuinely collaborative approach that allows you to work effectively with both Trustees and staff. You will be resilient, adaptable and comfortable managing complexity, and a confident ambassador for the Foundation with a strong external presence.

Friends Provident Foundation is a small organisation that works in a flexible, cross-functional way, valuing close collaboration between staff and Trustees at every level. Prior knowledge of economic systems change or social investment would be an advantage but is not essential; what matters most is your commitment to the mission and your ability to learn quickly.
