Principal Transport Partnership and Policy Officer
Principal Transport Partnership and Policy Officer at North East MSA in United Kingdom
About the role
We're looking for an experienced transport professional who is passionate about making a real difference to the North East. This is a unique opportunity to help shape, influence and champion the region’s transport ambitions, driving change at a local, regional and national level.
As Principal Transport Partnerships and Policy Officer, you will play a leading role in developing relationships with key partners, including the Department for Transport, local authorities and the wider transport sector, ensuring the North East's priorities are effectively represented and understood. Working closely with senior leaders, elected representatives and external stakeholders, you will provide strategic advice, develop evidence-based policy positions and produce high-quality briefings to support decision-making across the organisation.
This is a varied and influential role, combining partnership working, policy development and strategic advocacy. You will lead consultation responses, coordinate engagement with key stakeholders, represent the North East MSA at regional and national forums, and help shape the transport policies and investment priorities that will support the region's future growth and connectivity. You will also provide leadership within the team and contribute to the successful delivery of the MSA's wider objectives.
We're looking for someone with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, experience of working within a transport policy environment and the ability to operate confidently in a complex stakeholder and political landscape. In return, you'll have the opportunity to influence decisions that will help create a green, integrated transport network that works for all.
We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
If you are an experienced transport professional with excellent communication and influencing skills, the ability to build productive partnerships and the confidence to operate in a complex political and stakeholder environment, we would love to hear from you.
