We are entering an exciting new phase, working through a regional and national operating model that will deliver homes, unlock regeneration and create places that thrive. To support this, the agency is adapting its operating model, we have established 5 regions alongside the continuation of national activity. We are evolving as a newly formed Regional Directorate and are embracing change with positivity.
Job description
We have an ambitious agenda to deliver and we work at pace. The roles are central to the Agency’s mission to unlock and accelerate the delivery of strategic projects including as a master developer, driving the acquisition, de-risking, and disposal of land assets in line with strategic masterplans and local and national place priorities.
Homes England works in partnership to deliver some of the country’s largest and most complex housing and mixed-use sites. Whether they are large new settlements, extensions or repurposing of urban areas, or the Government’s New Towns Programme, our enabling role from inception to completion will be key to country’s housing delivery over the next 10 years
Specifically, the development of New Towns will underpin the largest housebuilding programme since the post-war period. The programme of new towns will create large-scale communities of at least 10,000 new homes each, with many significantly larger, and could deliver hundreds of thousands of affordable and high-quality homes in the coming decades.
We are looking to recruit the following:
- 5 Project Directors for the following regions: South; London and East; North West (x2); Midlands
- 3 Projects Director New Towns for the following regions; South; London and East; North East Yorkshire and Humber
Please stipulate in your application which one/s you are applying for. You’ll need to decide which region and office location is best for you to ensure that you are embedded in the region. Understandably, you’ll need to be on sites frequently, do be expected to regularly travel in this role.
Person specification
You’ll have extensive demonstrable experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large-scale residential or land generation projects. For us, your leadership behaviours are as important as your experience as you’ll embed the values and behaviours in daily work, contributing to a positive and inclusive culture. We need you to have a degree or a relevant professional qualification or significant senior level experience in the housing, development, town planning or regeneration sectors is essential along with a commitment to maintaining professional development.
This role leads the delivery of a portfolio of nationally significant, large-scale development projects that create vibrant new communities with homes, schools, retail and amenities. You’ll be front and centre taking forward large-scale projects, participating in delivery partnerships to provide increased capacity and capability to localities. You’ll be representing the Agency at senior-level meetings and in the media too, therefore we’ll need you to be confident in your engagement skills.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level, and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as the role guides a team to deliver on time and within budget.
