About the Team
The Ministerial and Communications Group sits at the heart of the Treasury. If you are interested in the inner workings of the Government, meeting Ministers, Senior Officials and liaising with the Press then this could be the place for you! We are a friendly and inclusive Group working on some of the most exciting issues of the day, bringing together work from across the rest of the department and engaging closely with partners across Whitehall and beyond.
We provide support to Ministers, through Ministerial offices. We act as Treasury's external face, through the Press Office and Communications team. We are responsible for managing the department, through our support for the Permanent Secretary, the Second Permanent Secretaries, the Treasury Board, and the Executive Management Board (EMB), and our ownership of Treasury governance structures. The Group is led by the Permanent Secretary.
In the Digital Communications team you’ll join a supportive, fast-paced team at the heart of HM Treasury, helping communicate economic policy clearly, accurately and accessibly. You’ll work closely with our channels, content and GOV.UK publishing teams, as well as our in-house production specialists, to plan, create and publish engaging digital content across social and GOV.UK.
About the Job
In this role, you will:
Work with the Treasury ministerial team to identify creative content opportunities that explain economic policy in engaging accessible ways
Advise ministers and their offices on effective content formats, digital best practice and what resonates with audiences
Collaborate daily with the videographer, photographer and designer on content production, maintaining quality and consistency
- Shoot simple videos and photos at Treasury events, ministerial visits and policy announcements
- Edit video content and draft social media copy for ministerial and departmental channels
- Work with the Head of Channels to deliver engaging content for HM Treasury's official social media accounts
- Translate complex policy information into clear content grounded in audience insight and what works digitally
- Support the development of creative content formats including graphics, short-form video and multimedia assets

About You
This is a hands-on role: you might draft social copy in the morning, capture simple video and photos at a ministerial visit at lunchtime, and edit assets for publication later the same day. You’ll advise on digital best practice and content formats, identify creative opportunities, and ensure everything meets quality, accessibility and propriety standards. You’ll also support the wider digital team during major campaigns and fiscal events such as Budgets and Spending Reviews, supported by experienced colleagues and clear standards to work to.
