The vacant post is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week.

Job description

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) delivering a primary health care service for patients (personnel and families in the EoS CMP), carrying out procedures and supporting patients to live healthier lives. This role supports the strategy and mission statement for Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC) to ensure optimum health and well-being for patients and maximum deployability.

An important part of the service is clinical care including taking blood samples to be sent laboratory for testing, wound care, and health promotion. The Healthcare Assistant also supports the delivery of the service by providing some administrative support, such as ordering clinical supplies.

You will be able to demonstrate safe care for patients within the EoS CMP. You will also work collaboratively with the MDT to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.

The Healthcare Assistant may be required to provide cross-cover at Royal Marines (RM) Condor.

Cyber and Specialist Operations Command (CSOC) is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to design the way in which the new Military Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, posts within CSOC are/or may become subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions.

Person specification

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering a high standard of patient care as delegated by a registered practitioner, work within own competence and keep up to date with relevant training highlighting any training needs or competency requirements to maintain role.
  • Support the Practice Manager (PM) to monitor and maintain clinical supplies, ensuring stock is ordered and replenished in a cost-effective manner. Ensure practice equipment maintenance checks are carried out and any issues highlighted to the PM.
  • Support medical and nursing colleagues to deliver safe and compassionate healthcare, undertaking medical administration support as required.

There will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.

Additional Information

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.
