We are seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our friendly hospital pharmacy team as Pharmacy Assistants. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to delivering high-quality patient care and play an important role in ensuring patients receive the right care, first time, every time.

We currently have both full-time and part-time opportunities available at Worcestershire Royal hospital, Worcester. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be a key member of the team and often the first point of contact for healthcare professionals and members of the public accessing our services.

You will need to be self-motivated, organised, and able to work accurately in a busy environment. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who are passionate about patient care and keen to begin or develop a career within hospital pharmacy.

Main duties of the job You will work as part of a multidisciplinary pharmacy team, collaborating closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The role offers the opportunity to gain experience across a range of pharmacy services and functions, providing a broad understanding of hospital pharmacy operations. Applicants must be able to work accurately and efficiently, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, and adapt to a variety of tasks within a busy working environment.

Duties are varied and may include: Picking, packing and assembling medicines in stock distribution. Pharmacy stores receiving and processing orders. Manning the reception within the dispensary, speaking to both staff and patients and dealing with queries.

Supplying medicines to wards and departments by means of a top-up. Picking intravenous fluids Duties within our sterile preparation suites. Delivery of medication to wards and departments.

Replenishing specialist emergency boxes Participate in established Bank Holiday and Weekend Rotas until the introduction of 7 day working when contracted hours will be undertaken over 7 days. Part Time hours will be paid pro-rata. Please refer to the full Job description for more detail.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Skills Essential -Able to carry out verbal and written instructions accurately. -Able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written. -Able to accurately record and file information -Customer Service skills -Skilled at multi-tasking - Please provide an example of when you have used your initiative to resolve a problem in your current or a previous role. - Demonstrate why you believe you would be the best candidate for this role.

Qualifications

Desirable -Customer Service Qualification and or Pharmacy Counter Assistant qualification Experience Essential -Previous experience of working as part of a team -Experience in applying attention to detail and producing work to the required standard. -Working to deadlines -Previous experience in a customer service or patient care setting -Experience of using different computer software -After reading the job description, please provide examples of how your experience in your current or previous roles will be transferable to this role.
