About the Role and our Ideal Candidate

The role provides a key interface between developers and contracted suppliers with social value commitments and those that can benefit from them, helping to define, monitor and support delivery of these commitments. You will:

Work closely and positively with social value providers - including contracted suppliers, construction partners and developers, to define and support the evidenced delivery of their social value commitments.

Collaborate with team colleagues, council services, contract managers and planning officers to define social value requirements through planning processes (Section 106) or procurement, and assess subsequent proposals.

Engage fully with local partners including colleges, VCSE organisations, schools, businesses and council services to develop or identify opportunities that can benefit from the social value commitments that have been secured.

Contribute to the continued development of our approach to social value delivery through knowledge building and sharing best practice, supporting the implementation of our Social Value Framework.

Support the monitoring and reporting of social value delivery, including through written and verbal presentation.

About you

To thrive in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

Strong understanding of the issues, challenges and opportunities involved in securing social value and economic benefits in the context of development management and the planning system (through Section 106), economic development and/ or public sector procurement and commissioning.

Strong experience of working successfully with partners and stakeholders with a demonstrable ability to influence and negotiate while maintaining positive relationships.

Substantive experience of working within a skills and employment environment and understanding of current issues, programmes, opportunities and delivery routes.

High level of written communication and attention to detail, with the ability to draft reports, plans, and stakeholder updates.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, capable of engaging and managing multiple stakeholders and priorities simultaneously.

Well-organised and collaborative, while able to work independently when needed.

The role will form a key part of our Regeneration and Economy Team where roles are not bound by silos and collaboration is key. The postholder will work closely with colleagues covering public realm development, skills, employment and business support themes - alongside other teams.
