Marketing Apprentice (Content Creator focus) needed at West Midlands Media in Wolverhampton. Create content for websites, blogs and social, support campaigns, and learn multi-channel marketing through a Level 3 apprenticeship. Portfolio/work examples required.

About the role

This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll create content and creative assets for both West Midlands Media and our clients. You’ll work alongside our web development, design, project management and digital marketing teams, learning how content supports real business goals like enquiries, sales and brand awareness.

This role is content-led (creating and repurposing content across channels), while you learn the marketing essentials through structured apprenticeship training and day-to-day support.

Key responsibilities

Content creation (core focus)

  • Create engaging content for websites, landing pages and blogs
  • Create social media content (graphics, captions, short-form posts)
  • Repurpose content across web, social, email and video
  • Research industries, competitors and trends to generate content ideas
  • Support content planning and scheduling for campaigns

Creative & design support

  • Create digital assets such as social graphics, banners, simple infographics and campaign visuals
  • Support website content updates and page layouts (with guidance)
  • Ensure work follows client brand guidelines and maintains a professional standard

Video & AI-assisted content

  • Create short-form promotional videos using modern tools (including AI-assisted tools where appropriate)
  • Support basic scripting/storyboarding and editing for social-first video
  • Keep up to date with new tools and content formats

Marketing support (learn as you go)

  • Support campaign activity across channels (organic social, email, website and paid campaign assets)
  • Learn how to tailor content to audience, objectives and brand tone
  • Learn how to measure and improve content performance over time

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Creative, curious and full of ideas
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks with support
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and improving their work
  • Interested in content, design, social media and digital marketing
  • Excited by learning new tools (including AI tools)
  • Detail-focused and able to work to deadlines

Essential requirement

A portfolio of content/creative work (this can be Instagram/TikTok, a PDF, Behance/Dribbble, a Google Drive folder, or examples of design/video/content you’ve created)

  • GCSE Maths and English - Grade C/4 or above
  • Training to be provided

You will be completing the Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketer apprenticeship. As a Multi-Channel Marketer Apprentice, you will help plan, create and implement impactful marketing campaigns across digital platforms. As part of the Marketing team, you’ll contribute to the implementation of marketing strategy and plans, supporting day-to-day marketing activities across multiple platforms, channels and systems.

Training is delivered via a blended learning model, which may include online learning, classroom sessions, work-based training, independent research, workplace projects and one-to-one support.

Your training will include:

  • Creating your portfolio
  • Marketing principles and theory
  • Branding theory and effective communication
  • Understanding your audience and customer journey
  • Research methodologies and competitor analysis
  • Understanding business vision and objectives
  • Budget management and understanding ROI
  • Marketing campaign planning and scheduling
  • Marketing plan implementation
  • Content creation (planning, development and practical tools)
  • Copywriting (persuasive writing techniques)
  • Quality, standards and legislation
  • SEO (introduction)
  • CMS/WordPress and cornerstone content
  • Metrics and analytics measurement tools
  • Reporting and optimisation (including Google Analytics)

The apprenticeship includes an End-Point Assessment in the final stage, which typically includes:

  • A written report
  • A portfolio of evidence-based work
  • A presentation and Q&A
  • A professional discussion based on the portfolio

Things to consider

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role with regular feedback and deadlines. You’ll need to be able to travel to our Wolverhampton office Monday–Friday (close to train/bus links).

A portfolio of content/creative work is required as part of the application.
